Hello there! I’m Heather Wheaton, a natural light photographer based in the heart of Bakersfield, California. I’m so thrilled to share my passion for photography with you and invite you into my journey of capturing life’s perfectly imperfect moments.
Photography has been a part of my life since 2014, when I first picked up my Nikon and began teaching myself the art of capturing the beauty in the everyday. I’ve always been driven to learn, grow, and perfect my craft, but my ultimate goal has never changed: to tell real, authentic stories through my lens.
As a wife, mom to four amazing girls, and Grammie to sweet twins, I understand how precious family moments are. Life is busy, messy, and full of surprises, but it’s also filled with love, laughter, and connection—and that’s what I strive to capture in every session. My incredible husband keeps me grounded and fills our home with laughter, while our two dogs and one cat keep things lively. With such a full house, I’ve learned to embrace the chaos and see the beauty in every moment, which is exactly how I approach photography.
My specialties include lifestyle photography for families, newborns, and seniors. Whether we’re outdoors in Bakersfield’s golden light or in my cozy home studio, I aim to recreate a natural, timeless look that showcases your unique story. While I incorporate elements of traditional and documentary photography, my heart lies in capturing the real feelings and connections that make each family, senior, or newborn session unforgettable.
For families, I focus on creating a relaxed and fun environment that allows everyone to feel comfortable and let their personalities shine. For seniors, I love celebrating this milestone moment by highlighting their individuality in beautiful outdoor locations or a setting that feels special to them. And for newborns, my in-home sessions are designed to let your little one take the lead, ensuring a calm and stress-free experience that’s all about capturing those precious first moments.
I’m also deeply passionate about school photography and have had the honor of providing authentic, high-quality school photos for private schools and preschools throughout Bakersfield. My goal is to expand into the local public school system, bringing my fresh approach to even more students and families. I believe every child deserves a school photo that truly reflects their personality—without forced smiles or awkward poses.
